27.02.2014| Potsdam: Jörn Davidsen of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Calgary, visits GFZ between February and May 2014 as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow and he is being hosted by Section Geomechanics and Rheology.
Humboldt Research Fellowships are awarded to experienced researchers by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to enable highly-qualified scientists and scholars from abroad to spend extended periods of research in Germany.
Professor Davidsen is a physicist and his central research topics include statistical seismology and probabilistic seismic hazard assessment. During his visit at GFZ, which will be the first out of three consecutive visits until 2016, Jörn Davidsen will focus on collaborative research activities concerning mining – induced seismicity, and microseismicity induced by hydraulic stimulation and production of geothermal reservoirs. In addition, Dr. Davidsen will study statistical attributes and spatiotemporal clustering of earthquakes on different scales from laboratory experiments to field data from the North Anatolian Fault.
