We are delighted to welcome Dr. Miao Dong to our section!

Miao has recently started a one-year visiting fellowship (November 2024–2025) in our section focused on investigating the interaction between mantle convection and plate tectonics using 2D ASPECT global models. He holds an Associate Professor position at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Beijing. His previous research has primarily focused on rifted margins and subduction zones, particularly in the western Pacific region. Miao Dong has combined multiple geophysical datasets—gravity, magnetic, seismic, and heat flow data—with numerical thermo-mechanical modeling to address key tectonic processes.
