GNSS Reflectometry has shown novel promises for Earth system and natural hazard monitoring and studies. Recently, the project AI4GNSS-R at GFZ, supported by Helmholtz AI, has been successful to unlock the potential using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Based on the scientific outcomes, GeoRefX (Geophysical Reflectometry Exploration) will be a versatile and multi-application AI model bridging the gap to enhance predictive analytics and monitoring of geophysical systems and natural hazard events. A financial support from the GFZ Innovation Funds is awarded to Milad Asgarimehr. The Innovation Funds of the Helmholtz Centres, provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, grant additional budgets for innovation projects and transfer bonus systems. This grant will enable the project to expand the model capabilities for better generalization and refine its data processing algorithms to be exploited for real world challenges in an optimal state. The project underscores the importance and potential impact of GeoRefX in advancing the synergy of AI and GNSS Reflectometry as novel remote sensing technique.
