GGOS Topical Meeting at Potsdam 2024

From October 7-9, 2024, the first IAG GGOS Topical Meeting took place at Wissenschaftsetage im Bildungsforum Potsdam. 76 scientists from 21 countries met there, among which 36 participants were early career scientists. Thanks to the generous support of the IUGG, the IAG and the IAGA, travel grants were provided to six colleagues to enable them to attend the meeting. Topic of the meeting was the remote sensing of the atmosphere by space geodetic techniques. Accordingly, the meeting was co-organized by IAGA.

With eleven presentations and six posters, the GFZ took an active leading role. Many scientists from sections 1.1 “Space Geodetic Techniques”, 1.2 “Global Geomonitoring and Gravity Field” and 2.7 “Space Physics and Space Weather” took part. GFZ also provided one of the two meetings’s keynote talks on recent results and future prospects of GNSS Remote Sensing techniques, which are GFZ’ backbone of scientific activities in the POF4 Topic 1 “The Atmosphere in Global Change”.

The coordination team with Dr. Laura Sanchez, Martin Sehnal, Prof. Michael Schmidt and Dr. Robert Heinkelmann would like to thank all colleagues involved for their excellent scientific contributions and Nataliya Bobenko, Kirsten Elger and team as well as Andre Brandt and Eric am Mihr for their excellent support on site.

More information about the meeting can be found at the webpage of IAG GGOS.
