On October 15 and 16, 2024, around 50 scientists from the Helmholtz research areas "Earth and Environment" and "Aviation, Space and Transport" met at the KIT Campus South in Karlsruhe for a scientific workshop to better network the remote sensing activities of both research areas as part of the so-called CARF Remote Sensing Initiative. The workshop was the second in the currently ongoing, fourth, period of program-oriented research PoF after a meeting in October 2022 at the Jülich Research Center. A total of eight GFZ scientists from sections 1.1 "Space Geodetic Techniques Methods" and 1.4 "Remote Sensing" took part. The following topics were focused on in the GFZ contributions: Remote sensing of the atmosphere and the earth's surface using ground- and satellite-based GNSS methods, EnMAP, Fern.Lab and remote sensing with drones.
