Career:

Arnd Heumann is Head of Strategic Themes in the Scientific Executive Director’s Team at the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam. He joined GFZ in 2010 as a Science and Programme Manager for an international research initiative involving four Helmholtz Centres and Canadian partners, enhancing GFZ's expertise in geological CO₂ storage and geothermal energy development. Prior to his tenure at GFZ, Arnd held positions in technology transfer and network management focused on geothermal energy at EnergyAgency.NRW, significantly contributing to regional energy initiatives in North Rhine-Westphalia. Earlier in his career, he spent around 15 years in academia, during which he occupied various roles and attained advanced qualifications in geosciences, including a Master’s degree and a PhD from universities in Germany and The Netherlands.
