Dr. Elena Chabab
Function and Responsibilities:
Since 2015, I have been working as a postdoctoral researcher in Section 3.4Fluid System Modelling at the GFZ (Working group 3.4.1 Coupled processes in hydrosystems) and am mainly involved in static and dynamic modelling in the context of various subsurface utilisation scenarios and their effects on regional hydrogeology and aquifers relevant to drinking water. In this context, I am also involved in various EU-RFCS projects.
Research Interests:
Groundwater flow modelling
Hydrogeology
Structural geological modelling
Multi-phase flow simulations
CO2 storage in geological formations
Re-utilisation of former open-pit lignite mines as energy storage systems
