Function and Responsibilities:

Since 2015, I have been working as a postdoctoral researcher in Section 3.4Fluid System Modelling at the GFZ (Working group 3.4.1 Coupled processes in hydrosystems) and am mainly involved in static and dynamic modelling in the context of various subsurface utilisation scenarios and their effects on regional hydrogeology and aquifers relevant to drinking water. In this context, I am also involved in various EU-RFCS projects.

Research Interests:

  • Groundwater flow modelling

  • Hydrogeology

  • Structural geological modelling

  • Multi-phase flow simulations

  • CO2 storage in geological formations

  • Re-utilisation of former open-pit lignite mines as energy storage systems

Career:

  • since 2011:Research Associate at the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences, Potsdam

Education:

  • 2015: Doctorate at the Department of Geosciences at the Freie Universität Berlin. Dissertation: Quantification of upward brine displacement from saline aquifers and mechanical effects in geological CO2 storage
  • 2011 - 2015: Research Associate (PhD student) at GFZ Potsdam
  • 2010 - 2011: Project engineer at UDM- Dr Anna Moschick
  • 2010: Diploma in Geology-Palaeontology (area of specialisation: hydrogeology), Freie Universität Berlin
  • 2009: Working student at the Department of Mineralogy, Geochemistry and Hydrogeology, Freie Universität Berlin
  • 2008 - 2009: Working student at U.C.A Dr. Werner Knauf & Partner GbR (pollutant assessment, waste disposal management, construction supervision), Berlin
  • 2007: Internship at the Spanish Geological Survey (IGME) Granada, Spain
  • 2007: Internship at U.C.A Dr. Werner Knauf & Partner GbR (pollutant assessment, waste disposal management, construction supervision), Berlin
  • 2007: Internship in the laboratory for environmental and pesticide analysis - terracon GmbH, Jüterbog
