Function and Responsibilities:

I am postdoctoral scientist at the Interface Geochemistry (Section 3.5). I am currently evaluating the dissolved organic matter (DOM) cycled on glaciers.

Online presence:

Research Interests:

I am interested in organic geochemistry, particularly in the production, transformation, and fluxes of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the environment. I use mass spectrometric analysis to study the composition of a wide variety of samples (e.g. hydrothermal fluids and sediment pore water), and statistical methods to associate their composition with the environmental characteristics.

Education:

2005-2009  PhD in Geosciences. University of Bremen, Germany.

Thesis title: Microbial communities performing anaerobic oxidation of methane: diversity of lipid signatures and habitats.

2002-2005  M. Sc. in Oceanography. University of Concepción, Chile.

Thesis title: Last Glacial Maximum to Holocene changes in export production and sea surface temperature from the continental margin of Concepción, Chile.

1996-2002  Degree in Marine Biology. University of Concepción, Chile.

Thesis project: Microbial degradation of organic matter in the water column: The effect of oxygen.

Projects:

I am currently part of the ERC Synergy Grant Deep Purple. For more details see: https://www.deeppurple-ercsyg.eu/home
