Graduate School METRIK
Model-Based Development of Technologies for Self-Organizing Decentralized Information Systems in Disaster Management
METRIK is an interdisciplinary graduate school at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, which combines research questions in the computer sciences with geoscientific questions, such as early warning in the case of an earthquake. In the graduate school, self-organizing wireless sensor nets and information systems are investigated for the application of early earthquake warning. On the one hand, we investigate how novel software development methods can facilitate the reusability and integration of geoscientific simulation models in information systems. On the other hand, we develop automated methods for data visualization on multiple abstraction levels for an enhanced communication of uncertain information.
