As Central-East Europe contends with escalating carbon emissions, the region grapples with the urgent need for effective solutions to mitigate the environmental impact of industrial activities. Recognising this critical challenge, an EU-funded initiative steps forward to revolutionise Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) in Central-East Europe. This project strategically addresses emissions and fosters innovative solutions, serving as a beacon of hope in the pursuit of a sustainable and resilient future. Specifically, it will develop an open-access, transnational network connecting emitters with storage sites, fostering a demand-driven investment rationale. By sharing knowledge and creating a common framework, COREu accelerates CCS deployment, contributing to a reduction of 6.8 Mt/year in CO2 by 2035 and an impressive 36 Mt/year by 2050.
