The Executive Board of the GFZ is divided into the Staff of the Scientific Executive Board and the Staff of the Administrative Executive Board.
Staff of the Scientific Executive Board
The Staff of the Scientific Executive Board coordinates and communicates at the interfaces between the Executive Board, the centre’s administration, the scientific community within and beyond the centre, the Helmholtz Association, ministries and authorities as well as other stakeholders and the public.
The Staff of the Scientific Executive Board supports the Executive Board, committees and employees of the GFZ in the following tasks: Strategic development, knowledge and technology transfer, national and international cooperation, institutional memberships, third-party funding, appointment management, press and public relations, scientific controlling and reporting, sustainability, interface with political actors, scientific infrastructures and synergy potential.
The individual units of the Staff of the Scientific Executive Board comprise: Operational Management | Transfer & Innovation | Helmholtz Affairs | Synergies & Networks | Strategic Themes | Projects & International Affairs | Communication & Media.
The heads of these units together form the Team of the Scientific Executive Director (Team WV). The WV team supports and advises the Executive Board and can be contacted for the above-mentioned tasks.
Staff of the Administrative Executive Board
The Staff of the Administrative Executive Director supports the Executive Board in the fulfilment of its duties. It comprises the following business areas: Legal Department I Administrative IT I Strategic Controlling
In addition, the following areas are assigned to the Executive Board member responsible for administration in a direct reporting line: Internal Audit | Compliance Office | Data Protection | Export Control | Occupational Safety
