Synergy Potentials in Research

• We identify, analyze and share information about GFZ’s existing scientific expertise (in cooperation with strategic themes).
• We develop and coordinate processes and guidelines to enhance collaboration within GFZ fostering synergy between our scientific and technical staff, the Executive Board, and the administration.
• We draw up and accompany structures and processes regarding research ethical aspects at GFZ.

Scientific Infrastructure

• We assess synergy potentials in GFZ’s existing infrastructures, with a specific focus on our laboratory facilities.
• We strive to understand scientists' needs for digitized processes for scientific collaboration within GFZ and drive digital transformation in GFZ's research ecosystem, collaborating closely with Department 5.

Interdisciplinary Research and Training

• We facilitate interdisciplinary training and exchange for data science within the Earth System Sciences beyond institutional borders by coordinating the NFDI4Earth Academy and the Machine Learning Interest Group at the Telegrafenberg and by linking GFZ to the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy.
• We actively communicate and support the Geo.X Early Career Scientist (ECS) Section, fostering connections between GFZ’s ECS community and their counterparts within the Geo.X Network.
