Usual seismic recording systems need wires or GPS to synchronize measurements. This is for professional operation on tunnel drilling machines not suitable. Therefore a radio controlled seismic recording system based on WLAN was developed at GFZ. That is, accurate synchronization and data transfer are realized via radio. Nevertheless, if a multiplicity of seismic channels is needed still wired systems like the SUMMIT compact from DMT are in use. Also the wireless data loggers are licensed to the Herrenknecht AG.
