Description: The SQuBA project aims to map out current training and skill-building programs in Earth observation, with a special focus on the Copernicus program. It will also look into other satellite-based Earth observation resources. This overview will cover different providers, target audiences, and training formats—mainly in German but also in English where relevant.
The project’s findings will be shared on www.erdbeobachtung.info and other platforms. After this, a needs analysis will help identify any gaps in training for public authority users. This analysis will involve an online survey and detailed interviews, focusing on public sector employees who have limited experience with Earth observation data, as well as members of the national Copernicus expert network.
The survey will explore specific training needs, relevant topics, day-to-day work challenges, and preferred training formats and outcomes. This information will support the German space agency at DLR (RFA) in creating future training programs.
Additionally, the project will look into ways to certify and incorporate this training into the broader public administration training framework. By the end of the project, a concept for a national training program will be developed and shared.
