On your marks, get set, go! – this was the motto at the Biosphäre Potsdam last Sunday. In excellent running weather - partly cloudy, no rain, later even some sun - the proWissen run in the Volkspark Potsdam took place for the second time, after a one-year break due to corona - with the successful participation of 12 employees of the German Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ. The runners from our Centre took first place in the team classification for both the 10km and 5km distances and were honoured by Potsdam's mayor Mike Schubert. Congratulations to Kyriakos Balidakis, Qi Zhou, Yibo Wang, Thomas Bornstein, Aaron Hornschild, Linus Shihora, Henryk Dobslaw and Peter Evans for this impressive achievement!
While the athletically active adults completed either one or two laps through the Volkspark Potsdam, depending on the type of course, there were stands and games on offer for children. For the more active among them, there was also the opportunity to take part in a "Bambini Run", the distance of which was 550 metres. Apart from the competition, the proWissen Run 2022 was something else: a successful sporting day out for the whole family.
