In the 2020 edition, the Allianz Reinsurance offered the “Allianz Climate Risk Research Award” for PhD students and postdocs, whose research dealt with extreme weather events and their impact in the context of climate change. A six-member jury selected four candidates from many international applicants. The four finalists from Australia, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK presented their research in a lecture.
Nivedita Sairam won second place for her work on reliable, flexible and accessible flood loss prediction models, which she carried out as part of her doctoral theses at the GFZ and the Humboldt University, Berlin.
