Friedhelm von Blanckenburg, head of GFZ section Earth Surface Geochemistry was elected to the Academia Europaea.
The academy was founded in 1988 and consists of more than 4200 members. It has set itself the goal to "promote European research, advise governments and international organisations in scientific matters, and further interdisciplinary and international research." Admission to the Academy is exclusively by invitation of existing members and follows a strict peer review selection procedure.
Friedhelm von Blanckenburg is Professor of Geochemistry of the Earth's Surface at Freie Universität Berlin. His work focuses on isotope geochemistry and mass spectroscopy.
