Prof. Dr. Lotte Krawczyk, Director of the GFZ Department of Geophysics and Head of the Section Geophysical Imaging, is speaker for the program "Changing Earth – Sustaining our Future" of the Helmholtz Research Field Earth and Environment as of April 1. She is thus the spokesperson for the Program Board, a coordinating body for the joint program of the seven Helmholtz centers in this research area. She also remains Program Director for the GFZ. For the time of her office as speaker of the Program Board, Lotte Krawczyk will leave her function as Department Director at the GFZ.
Prof. Dr. Torsten Dahm, head of the GFZ Section Physics of Earthquakes and Volcanoes, will lead the Department Geophysics as acting director during this time. The Department of Geophysics comprises seven sections covering a wide range of topics from modeling and geohazards to the Earth's magnetic field and space weather. In total, there are five departments at the GFZ: Geodesy, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Geosystems and Geoinformation.
