Harald Schuh, Director of GFZ-Department Geodesy, became a member of acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering. He is one of 26 scientists who were elected at the general assembly and accepted the new position. The election is also an honour for their scientific achievements: acatech provides expertise for political decision-making processes on the basis of a double mandate from the federal as well as the regional governments in Germany.
As a working academy, acatech supports society, providing qualified technical evaluations and forward looking recommendations. The topics reach from energy supply over digitization and Industry 4.0 to the field of telecommunications.
Besides his position as Department Head, Harald Schuh is also Head of the GFZ section Space Geodetic Techniques and is Professor of Satellite Geodesy at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science at the Technische Universität Berlin. (rn)
