Monika Korte from Section 2.3, Geomagnetism, has received a Simons Fellowship from the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge to participate in the research programme "Frontiers in dynamo theory: from the Earth to the stars".
The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences is a place for creative collaboration, where up to 55 researchers from all over the world meet and work together on a specific topic over a few weeks. Participants are invited by a scientific committee with the aim of bringing together broad interdisciplinary expertise on the topic.
The dynamo theory programme, which runs from 12 September to 16 December 2022, will help to better understand the magnetic fields of the Earth, other planets and the stars, as magnetic fields provide information about the interior of planets and celestial bodies and also determine their interactions with the surrounding space.
