Dr. Elvira Feldbusch
Funktion und Aufgaben:
• Develop and conduct laboratory experiments at geothermal similar conditions (high pressure and temperature), including investigations on precipitation/dissolving and adsorption/desorption processes in aqueous solutions as well as their monitoring by several analytical methods
• Quantitative analytical studies of high salinity brines and geothermal scales (UV-VIS spectroscopy, FT-IR, ICP-OES, GC, MS and wet chemical analysis).
• Development of new sustainable adsorption methods and adsorbents for use in geothermal conditions
• Monitoring geochemical parameters at geothermal sites at in-situ conditions across Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Denmark)
• Solid phase characterization of precipitates from geothermal sites
• Work in an interdisciplinary team with postdocs, and staff both, at GFZ and within the partners of the EU project
• Laboratory management of the Working Group 4.8.4 Geothermal fluids
• Supervision of bachelor and graduate Students
Wissenschaftliche Interessen:
Understanding physicochemical processes in geothermal fluid systems.
Development of new methods to prevent undesirable chemical processes in the geothermal cycle.
Development of new selective adsorption materials and methods for non-invasive raw material extraction from geothermal fluids in addition to heat extraction.
